CRC 1218 Z-Project Introduction
During the Z-Project introduction on 12.03.2021 heads of the experimental and analysis facilities of the Z-projects introduce how available expertise and technology can contribute to the CRC’s research.
MiReSS - Mitochondrial Research Seminar Series
Internal monthly seminar series by DCs and Postdocs. In this seminar series mito-RTG discuss current findings of their projects, project aims as well as techniques employed for their research. The event aims to foster scientific exchange, interaction and discussion among early career researchers in the absence of PIs.
CoWorker Retreats
Doctoral Candidates and Postdoc organised retreat to discuss scientific progress and include further formats tailored to their needs in an informal atmosphere.
International Symposium of the CRC 1218
Conference organised by the CRC 1218 with international renowned scientists in mitochondrial biology invited to present their recent findings. For mito-RTG members this event provides ample networking opportunities with external scientists .

mito-RTG Symposium
Three-day event organised by mito-RTG Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs and presenting their work to an international audience. Talks by international renowned scientists in mitochondrial biology, poster sessions, networking opportunities with external scientists, career perspectives session.
Lecture Series
MitoClub
Seminar series (with “speakers lunch”)
International renowned scientists present their latest discoveries in mitochondrial biology. mito-RTG members are offered to interact with MitoClub speakers in an informal atmosphere during the “meet the speaker lunch”, fostering interaction with external international experts on the field of mitochondria research.
Postdocs get the opportunity to meet speakers one-on-one

Seminar series (with “speakers lunch”)
Invited speakers address topics related to but not always directly dealing with mitochondrial biology. “Meet the speakers lunches” and one-on one meetings are components of the speakers’ meeting schedules.
The structured graduate programme corresponds to the central and mandatory core programme of the Graduate School for Biological Sciences (GSfBS) and is extensively described on the website of the GSfBS.

Doctoral Candidates choose a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC)
consisting of the supervisor and two “mentors”. At least one mentor should be member of the CRC 1218 faculty. The second mentor can be from a different field but provide supportive complementary expertise.
One of the mentors needs to be a university professor and the other has to be at least at the level of an independent group leader.
Experienced / advanced Postdocs can serve as mentors.

Within 6 months after starting to work on the PhD thesis Doctoral Candidates meet the TAC and submit a project proposal
(oral presentation and written proposal)

Within the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year Doctoral Candidates meet the TAC members and present the project in an oral form and prepare a written report at the indicated time intervals.
